Enduro Bearings pioneered MAX type bearings over 20 years ago for bicycles to address the challenges associated with mountain bike pivots. MAX-type bearings provide 35-40% more load capacity than standard radial bearings by utilizing a special design where the maximum number of balls are inserted into the bearing, via a custom ground slot in the races. The additional balls, combined with deep race grooves in these bearings provide greater lateral support for the twisting and multi-directional forces associated with mountain bike pivots. This ABEC-3 bearing features deep-groove design races, with grade 10 balls and full-contact, double-rubber seals for superior protection against the elements, while keeping the 90% fill of Almagard extra high pressure grease inside. When properly installed and adjusted, Enduro Angular Contact (A/C) bearings engage all of the bearing's balls to spread the force over a larger surface area, decreasing friction, minimizing wear and increasing bearing life.
This bearing has been used as a suspension pivot bearing by Santa Cruz.
The Enduro line of bearings are available in high-carbon chromium steel, 440C stainless steel, ceramic-hybrid and XD-15 with ceramic or stainless balls. Our bearings are always engineered with deepest groove races possible to accommodate the largest balls possible and feature dual-lip seals that ride in a micro-groove creating a full labyrinth to provide superior protection against the elements.
